I'm going to Breckenridge CO flying in to Denver, I just saw that the Spyderco Outlet in Golden is on my way. Is it worth it to stop and visit? Are prices better than online?

That is the store connected to the factory. Haven't been theree myself, but I hear it's a very cool place to look around if you like Spyderco knives. I've read Sal state that the peices are such there as to not compete directly with the retail stores that sell their products. Even if the prices are higher, it's still a nice place to check out.

Yeah, anywhere you can actually fondle the knives you drool over on the internet is a good place for me. The closest one is about two hours from me. Plus, I hear the Spyderco people are real nice, and love knives. What could be better?

I live in denver prices are 20% off retail but a lot of the time you can find some good clearence and models that could be sold out on web retailers. Worth the stop I go there once a month.

You can find better prices on-line, however, like everyone said, the outlet is a fun place. I usually buy my Spydercos there as I am able to look at them and QC if I like.

Be careful though, it is a dangerous place :D

I am also a frequent visitor and it is a wonderful place to visit, most all spydies are available to fondle and the employees are second to none. Well worth a quick stop on your way to breckenridge and really only 15 minutes out of your way to swing into Golden. You will regret if you don't stop by the Spyderco Factory Outlet.

The thing is, I'm going with 4 more friends (guys and girls) and I don't think they would be to thrilled to stop at the Spyderco store. I guess I'll just suggest it and hopefully everyone agrees to stop for a little while.

I'm not sure if their prices are better than online (my guess is no), but it's the Spyderco Outlet. Asking us Spyderco guys if it's worth the visit is like asking Sal if you should by a Spyderco (of course you should). :D But in all seriousness, if you're going to be in the area, you should check it out. I know that I would.

I only live about an hour from the Spyderco Outlet and visit it about once a month since it's around 15 minutes from my work. If you like Spyderco knives at all, you'd be very disappointed if you didn't go. It's pretty much on the way to Breckenridge (maybe 20 minutes out of the way total), and it gives you a chance to handle all of the knives that you've been eyeing online. There have been plenty of Spydercos I was interested in until I handled them, since I won't know how they feel in-hand until I grab one. On the flip side, there are a few models that I had dismissed and they jumped to the top of my list after visiting the outlet. Twenty to thirty minutes is all you'd need to handle a good chunk of the knives there, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Like others have mentioned, you can find cheaper knives online; I was there just last Thursday and they didn't have any great closeouts, either - but it's worth a visit just for the experience of it.

I've never been (would like to) but I imagine if you do go be prepared to spend $$$. :) Can't imagine going and not buying at least 1 knife... no, make that 2... 3? You get the point! :)

Actually holding a knife in your hand is a strong motivator towards buying (assuming you like it!)... hard to put down a good knife that you can check for good lock up and zero blade play and excellent F&F. I've bought a couple of Spydies at brick and mortar stores (not the Spyderco Outlet) that I knew I was paying a premium for, but being assured that the knife I was buying had all the above mentioned qualities was worth paying a bit extra for (if you've ever gotten a mail order knife that didn't, you know how disappointing that can be).

If I ever get to and/or near Golden I know I will be stopping by! :D

Ahhh just convince your friends it'll be a neat experience -- I'm sure the associates can entertain them with the more interesting models (all of them!?).

I think we're gonna have to stop by on the way back to the airport since everyone is going to be anxious to get to Breckenridge on our first day. I hope I have money left over on our way back. I'm gonna need to at least replace the Pacific Salt.

It is worth a stop, I live in Denver and go there very often to check out and handle the new models out. The prices as stated before are 20% off MSRP and by no means the best price out there. Spyderco does not want to complete with their dealers so there are much better prices online but don't pass it up, check it out and that way you can look at all the different models they have there to try.

It's fun and the people are nice. The best part is that you get to handle a bunch of different Spyderco knives. When I was there, if you spent "x" number of dollars you got a free FRN Dragonfly too. The prices are less than MSRP, in-line with some online retailers and a little more than most.

Prices are better at retailers, but it's fun to go! Sometimes you can find a particular model they might have on super-sale, but i think they try not to compete too much with their distributors and other retailers. I was disappointed they didnt have a factory tour, but I guess that's only natural so that they can keep their production line safe and confidential.

We're going to Granby for Spring Break and it's a mandatory stop for us (group with me as well - they're stopping whether they like it or not because I'm driving :D ).

Just have them drop you, then they can go into Golden (about 5 minutes away) to wander about, and then they can come and try to force you to leave after. Step three is probably the hardest.
