Hello All,
I am in the market for a Spyderco P’Kal Trainer. I was doing some browsing and found one on eBay of all places listed as new but sale price about $60 less than everyone else. How can I know I wouldn’t be buying a rip off clone?? Any identifiers?
Thanks in advance

It's unlikely that a Spyderco P'kal trainer would be a profitable candidate for cloning. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen but just seems unlikely.

If it's the trainer that I'm looking it, it looks legit. Close up photos of knife and box. Markings on trainer appear correct. Box labeling also looks correct; fakes usually fail to provide a printed box end label w/the appropriate bar code.

What I'd be more worried about is the iffy feedback of the seller (2 negs out of 15 transactions in past 12 months; only 85% positive feedback) and the fact that the trainer is the highest priced item that s/he has sold recently.

With a seller like that, if the deal goes sideways, you can be almost certain that your only recourse for a return/refund will be thru EB or your credit card company.

Thanks so much for your detailed response. I was kinda thinking like you that it seemed legit. Customer satisfaction ????that is the big unknown. Looked like it was due to no inventory type scenarios, but still alarming. And no returns stated even more scary. Looks like they may be a junk dealer and just came across this on a buyout or something along those lines. Certainly not Spyderco authorized 😂. I’m gonna think on it, maybe even email the guy with my concerns and see what he says. Have a good evening brother and thanks again
