Spyderco Packaging Question??

I have boughten a enough "New" spydercos to notice that the knives are sometimes wrapped differently inside the box...The majority of my spydies are off eBay and are claimed "New" in the description. When received they feel and look brand new ie. [no signs of cosmetic scratches dings, blade edge is clean, unsharpened, still stiff when opening etc] Yet the majority of them come in a plastic sleeve with one side open.

Is there a specific way spydies come wrapped inside the box??

My newest buy was the Sage 2 and it was completely sealed in a thicker plastic wrap, which is the first time I've ever seen this.

Are all spyderco knives supposed to be COMPLETELY sealed in plastic?
or do some come in plastic with one side open?
I have also had some come bubble wrapped.

Don't get nervous, what you describe is absolutely normal packaging variation. Spyderco doesn't have a specific way for their knives, they have a lot of variations ... as I understand it ... flexible ;)

lol Thank you so much!

This is what I figured, but I was really thrown off when I received my fully sealed Sage 2

Thank you for the clarification!
I feel a lot better now.

Aside from the "clam pak" packaged knives, I can't recall ever receiving one completely sealed in plastic. That said, as has been noted, Spyderco packaging is not consistent. I've received my Collector Club knives loose in the box, in clear plastic bags with one end folded over, and in bubble wrap bags with one end folded over. For a while the boxes were sealed with two clear plastic half dollar size disks, one at end, placed so half the disk was on the end of the tray and the other half on the top of the sleeve.

The seller could have lost the original sleeve after removing knife for photos. That is if he used the actual knife and not a stock photo in his listing.
