I'm interesd in Spyderco's para military 2. How aggressive are the G-10 scales? If used for edc applications will it wear out the pockets on my jeans and khaki pants. Any insight regarding this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Opinions vary, but I would say that it is light to moderate in its abrasiveness, and that it will still wear out your pockets over time - though not quickly. Anything that isn't completely smooth will do that, and even with smooth scales the clip can still rub a hole in your pocket.

So that's the price we pay for carrying a Para 2. But the scales are nowhere near as abrasive as you will find on some other makers like Cold Steel, so I don't think it should be much of a concern. Rock on.

it's not that aggressive it really won't be a huge problem but most g10 scales will tear down your pockets a bit. A titanium frame lock that has G10 on the presentation side and titanium on the clip side is better in this regard.

The texture on my PM2 is somewhat smoother than on my Manix 2 XL; but still not very aggressive. I would easily label it as light-medium and not likely to wear out your pockets quickly. If you're not okay with the risk of wear on your clothing, there are plenty of leather and kydex workers out there that can make you a nice belt pouch. I have a Tie Kydex sheath for my PM2 for use when wearing pants with fewer pockets or lighter material.

I EDCd mine for about 3 months straight and I did get a little pocket wear. After it went into rotation with 2 other knives I have had no issues. A little sanding on the contact point will take care of pocket wear if you are really worried.

It's fairly non aggressive G10. Really doubt it will wear your pockets out. Some of my knives do cause pocket damage sometimes within a couple days but the Para 2 did not and is a mild texture G10.

I EDC one and never had a problem. If you think it's too aggressive you can always slide some sandpaper under the clip a couple times to smooth the G10 a little

Go for it. The G-10 is great on the PM2. Definitely not too aggressive. It will start to wear on your pocket after a while, but any knife will do that. It comes with the territory.

The clip doing it thing is more damaging than the G10 texture.

Or adjust the tension between the clip and the scales by bending it out a hair, like I did, with a brand-new Paramilitary 2 this morning ironically enough. If it gets bent out too much a T6 Torx bit fits the screws, take it off and bend it back in a hair.

Problem solved, and the scales remain pristine in case you want to switch the clip to the other side sometime later.

You won't have scales sanded down in the middle only on one side and looking weird. Try to sell it that way (if you have to) and you'll lose more money than you need to if you starting sanding on it, and that cannot be undone.

Relieving some tension on the clip can be. Screw it up, and Spyderco will send you a new one for free.

You can get custom scales for it too if you feel they are too aggressive.

I don't find the G-10 on the Paramilitary (or most Spydercos for that matter) too abrasive. However, if you do, just sand the part under a clip a little to smooth it out and you should be fine.
