So I need some help. I just purchased a paramilitary D2 foliage green from a forum member and noticed that the blade has 061V next to the spyderco logo. What does this mean, I have never seen this on any other D2 model.

thanks

It's a Spyderco Collectors Club number. The V suffix indicates that particular configuration of the Paramilitary is not the first, so it is considered a variant.

ok thanks. But Not all of the D2 foliage green paras have this written on them why is that?

Because that particular one was etched specifically for collector number 61. Of course, I believe that particular collector number belongs to a dealer, who then sells the knife to whoever wants it. ;)

Only 200 pieces are numbered for the Collector's Club. The rest go out without a number.

Even less on the variants, probably less than 100. The only variants which get numbered are those where the number is owned by a "All Variants" member. Some of those, as you noted, are dealers who have one or more memberships in their own names to insure getting at least that many pieces of the most limited production models.

You might want to have a look HERE, and HERE, for more detailed information regarding Collectors Club numbers.
