Hi, I posted about my para2 about two weeks ago. In this post I explained that my knife had side to side blade play and no matter how tight I made the pivot and the stop pin screws, it would not go away. I know that is probably because of the busing system. Recently I decided to attempt to fix it. I was reading around and learned that some of these knives have a "sweet spot" and if you play around with tightening the screws, you will find it. I have had no luck doing this. I washed it and lubricated it and tightened all the screws. Now the blade play has gotten worse and the lock is very sticky. Im having no luck :(. Any help? I have not taken this knife apart and I don't really think I will. I also have a Spyderco Cat in customer service due to up and down play. I didn't even have the knife for a day. This para2 is also the earth brown g10 version. I just don't want to have to send it in.

Thanks,
George

Loosen both the pivot screw and the stop pin screw a bit on both sides. Tighten the stop pin screws all the way down first then tighten down the pivot screws until there is no blade play and the blade moves freely. You can then back off the stop pin screw slightly if you'd like to further adjust the tension. You're right about the para2 having a sweet spot, it is quite sensitive to both pivot and stop pin tension and sometimes needs a little tweaking to get just right.

Thanks for the advice!
I did what you said and it did not work :(

If you tighten the pivot screws all the way down does the blade play disappear even if the blade binds up and does not move as it should? If tightening the pivot all the way down fixes the play, it can probably be adjusted out. If you still have play with the pivot all the way tightened then you may need to send it in.
