My spyderco paramilitary 2 makes a wierd poping noise when i disengage the compression lock. The knife is really smooth and everything else is find its just that wierd pooping noise if you guys have any idea on what is causing this it would be helpful. Thanks.

that wierd pooping noise

I would recommend taking it to a good gastroenterologist. He might be able to figure it out :D

In all seriousness, you might get a better answer in the spyderco sub-forum. Sal Glesser frequents there

Did you take it apart? If the scales are not flush when you tighten the screws down, the lock bar will catch and "pop". Make sure everything is perfectly in place before tightening any screw. If everything is good, then it is a quality issue. 90% sure it is just how the knife was assembled/reassembled.

It sounds like it just hasn't been broken in yet. Is it new? I'll bet the lock's still a bit sticky and the sound you're hearing is just it coming loose.

The popping sound is the lock catching on that stop pin/standoff directly above it, most likely. Do you only hear it when pressing the lock down to close it?

If your your knife is pooping uncontrollably you should probably take it to see a doctor.:D Wouldn't worry about. Noise should be your last consern with a knife. Is the lock sticky at all cause might be the lock is bent slightly?

Ya its pretty new it just that the noise only happens if i flick the knife open but if i open it slowly it dosent pop so it's really confusing

Oh...so it's when you open it? Is it more of a click? That's just the sound it makes. Let's ya know it means business. Never had a liner lock click like that when you open the knife? From this post it sounds like what you're hearing is just the locking clicking into place. A quality liner, back lock, or compression lock will have sort of a "thwack" sound.

This furthers my belief that it's just sticky. When you flick the knife open with that much force, you're making the lock travel further than it needs to, getting it slightly stuck - hence the "pop" when you get it unstuck by disengaging it.

No i ment when i open it fast and then disengage the lock there is a pop noise and if i open i slow then disengage the lock there isn't any pop noise

Sounds like the lock face then. Like it is scrubbing because it's tight against the back of the blade.
