Hi Every one.

I have been looking at Spyderco in general for some time
resently I came across a sprint run PM2.Are all made in the US, is this Correct or is only the Sprint Run Edition make in the US?
It seams that the PM2 might be my best option. Was planing to get A Lionspy or Rubicon but want something 100% Spyde LOL.

As I am A lefty this non-flipper Knife is vary favorable to me as most stud knifes are hard to use unless it is also a flipper.
is the Sprint run knives with the CF scales and s90V blades worth the $500-600 they are on the market for?
Reason for asking is should i just by a standard s30V and get the Upgrade CF scale, Exc...?
what brand CF scales are the best?

Also I saw some realty cool glow in the Dark back spacers, who made the best ones?

lastly what other cool upgrades are available for the knife, can the hardware be upgraded?

I know there is another post somewhere about upgrades but i know availability in the market changes allot!

Thanks!

I have a few sprint run PM2's, use them often and like them all. Best advice I can give you is buy the standard S30V for just over $100 and give it a try first. Nothing wrong with S30V... You'll have enough change over from $600 to buy that Lionspy and with some luck another flipper !

S90V is such a great steel that I highly doubt you will be disappointed with. I have a sprint run Yojimbo 2 in that steel and I can tell you that knife sees my pocket liner more than any other knife I own. As far as scales...I'm a little green in that area as the most important part of the knife to me is the blade. I normally just leave everything as is but any tweaks or customization is done to the blade and the blade alone. Good luck!

All Paramilitaries & Militaries are made in Golden, CO. There are several knife modders on the forums here that work with Paras. A lot of their work is shown in the Maintenance, Tinkering, and Embellishment subforum. Keyman is one with whom I have some experience. His work is excellent. There are others as well, but he's the only one I've used personally.

I'm not a fan of CF handles. I prefer G10 or micarta. I also have no interest in S90V. So to answer your question about that particular sprint run, to me it is not worth the extra $. Personally, I would prefer the Elmax sprint run from Bento Box Shop or the brown S35VN sprint run. I like both of those steels over most of the others offered. As mentioned above, I'd start with the basic S30V Para 2. It's reasonably priced, a solid performer, and it'll be easy to move if you decide you don't like Paras. Some few folks just can't warm up to 'em. Until you know for sure, go with what's relatively cheap. Once you're really in love, you can upgrade to the Para flavor of the moment.

BTW, there's a CPM M4 Para 2 in the works from Knifeworks. It'll be a while yet, but it's coming. That one is worth waiting for, at least for me. I love M4.

I have one of the brown s35v sprints and it's my most carried knife. I also have a very well used blue m390 that I got in trade for some silat instruction-i like it a lot but I wouldn't have paid the extra $$ for the m390. The basic PM2 is a great knife.

This is such good advice. The standard S30V is a dead-nuts bargain. Spyderco has their S30V really dialed in nicely and at that price it's a raging good value. I have all of the sprints and exclusives...yes, some perform better, but the S30V blade will perform extremely well and it will do it at a price almost anyone can afford. Highly recommended.

Thanks Every one :)

$100 is way cheaper than $600 ;)
I think I will take that rout and grabs some CF scales if i can find them.

Thanks!

The PM2 is my all time favorite pocket knife, but I don't like it in my left hand.

In my left pocket, I usually have a Manix2 or a lockback model.

If they ever made a lefty PM2, I'd probably buy at least 3 of them.

I've carried an M390, Elmax, and XHP and they are awesome, but S30V is just fine too.

Eta: perfectly easy to open lefty, but harder to close lefty with a secure grip because you actuate the lock with your thumb and it's the only finger on that side

Agreed completely with everything here. Can't go wrong with any para 2, honestly the s30v variant is so good. It's really the best one and everytime I pick it up and use it I can't believe its a $100 ish dollar knife. It's perfect.

I am a lefty and I have nicked my finger a few times closing the pm2. It's a non issue with my right hand. The military is a better knife for a lefty in my opinion. All that said its still my favorite knife.

It's impossible to make a wrong choice with getting a pm2.

Good advice is above... better advice is buy one for $105 in camo or black g10 or whatever...Try it and see if you like it. I LOVE the compression lock...have had a collection...sold it. Only two cheap ones left, that I'm keeping.
Don't pay big money for s90V on a whim. That is collector money, and you're not a collector.
Few folks are that serious. That S90V used to go for 1/2 or 1/3 that money... Start with S30v, keep your pulse slow and steady...

Here are the sponsored dealers: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1089879-Paid-Dealer-Members-List

These are dealers that you're sure to get a real Spyderco from, stay far away from ebay unless you like paying $100 or more for a $2 Chinese copy. Same with alixpress, junk. There are other dealers that aren't on that list but only one that I'll use, it's recommended by nutnfancy on youtube. It's mentioned in his newer videos. Other than that I wouldn't dare spend a dime with someone that's not on the list. I work too hard for my money to get swindled by some fly by night Chinese copy outfit.

US made Spyderco with G10 and S30V for ~$105? Yes, please.

Same knife with carbon fiber and S90V for $500? No thanks.

I'm a lefty and I find that the Para 2 is the safest, easiest most intuitive to operate folding knife I've ever handled.

How do you close it?

Good question. I had to take it out and close it a few times to see what I actually do. I hold the knife (in left hand of course) with my index finger on the choil and the other three fingers firmly gripping the handle. Whatever grip I was using to cut with the knife I go to this grip before closing. Then to actually close I shift my hand back slightly, letting go with the thumb and index finger and keeping the other three fingers firmly gripping the scales. Finally I pinch the lock between my thumb and first finger and give the knife a gentle shake. The blade drops with the choil hitting/resting on my second finger. From there I just continue to close the knife. I rarely even look at the knife while I'm closing it. There are other Spyderco knives that I find more comfortable to carry or cut with (like the Stretch) but the Para 2 is the one I have on me most often, it's just such a pleasure to operate.
