I was camping and I left the paramilitary behind the sink and I just went to use it to find slight rust on the blade, no biggie, but the problem was in the compression lock, the pin is rusted pretty good and the finger gripping has a little rust in the creases.... Any advice on what to do with this? I'm thinking just pulling it apart and wire brushing it. Not sure what else I can really do... The dlc coating prevented most of the rust too which is a good thing

Maybe try and spray the knife with WD40 and let it soak for an hour see if it will rub off with a shop rag before breaking out the wire brush.

I've also read about soaking parts in a 10:1 molasses water mix. Been meaning to try this with a bunch of rusty AK mags I have.

I would try navel jelly on ur ak mags, it will strip that rust like nothing just don't want to try it on my spyderco

Flitz paste works wonders on rust. If you can get to it with a rag and small dab of flitz, it should come right off

Use the Flitz or Simichrome and a soft toothbrush to get into the blade jimping. It'll take some elbow grease, too. There's also a product called Rust Eraser that works pretty well if you can get to the rusted area. It looks like an old time school eraser. I got mine from NGK and I've used it several times on rust and other kinds of marks on steel & titanium.

If you hit it with a hammer it will knock all the rust out...
