spyderco persistence edge retention problem.

I am having a problem with my persistence not holding an edge for long without much use is this do to the 8cr13mov steel or are they normally that way or what?
any advice would be great.
 
Depends what you are cutting. 8cr isn't going to hold an edge very long on hard use but it is easy to resharpen and takes a nice edge easy IME. I use 1500 wet dry sandpaper on hard leather to touch up my tenacious every couple days. That is all mine has ever needed.
 
Your blade may have a heat treating problem. But i doubt that, I agree with eliminating the burr problem, that'll trash your edge fast.
