Spyderco Persistence..What Just Happened ?!

Hi all..my name is Vince and I just received my first Spyderco..a Persistence to be exact. I usually carry a Becker bk11 or a SAK as an edc but wanted a regular everyday folder. A friend of mine who is a Spyderco and Hinderer fanatic suggested a Persistence and stated that if I didnt like it..he would buy it for the price I paid. Deal ! The slow mailman came today and presented me with a box with my new knife. Of course I ran upstairs and opened it like a lil kid..and I flicked it once or twice. Flipped it over to check the build quality. Flicked it open two more times and it loosened up and my hand said "ooooh". Yes I acually heard my hand say that so dont judge me ! The next thing I knew..I had ordered a Paramilitary and an Ambitious for the wife to keep her quiet (im not stupid ;)) ! All of this in less than 10 minutes of checking the mailbox. What just happened...?

Thanks guys for the welcome and confirming that I have another addiction. Nice to know that the quality of the knife is great for the price. Exactly what my friend told me was true..play with it for a little while and you will be "one of us" lol. As for the wallet..it was stuffed until I ordered the Para and the Ambitious + a HEST 2.0 folder as an early bday gift for myself. I already started plans to mod the Persistence a little (orange g10) to make it more "mine".
 
I guess your friend forgot to mention the binding agent in Spyderco G-10 is crack cocaine. Welcome to the addiction.
 
The Persistence was my first Spyderco. It was a beater at first. Then I realized it was too awesome to be a beater. I've dressed it up a bit since then.

Im starting to believe you..Im up at 415am making orange g10 and my wife is yelling to put the damn dremel down !

I think so..after just handling the Persistence I can imagine how good the Para will feel.

Yeah that's really nice. When I was figuring out how I wanted to mod it, your pic stuck in my head. If I dont like the orange g10 Im making, I have two slabs of Buckeye Burl I was gonna use on my Becker BK2 but they are too short. I needed a good edc folder and I think this is it ! By the way..the Villains you make..are Sick !!!

I've been down that road. It went something like:
1. Persistence
2. Cat
3. Sage 1
4. Dragonfly
5. Dodo
6. Native 5
7. PM2
8. Techno

Unfortunately for me, most failed to meet all my requirements. I've kept a few because of sentimental value or coolness. None are my EDC. It certainly was a fun experience.
 
I have probably had a higher degree of satisfaction than Willydigger.

The Combo Edge Delica and Endura were my first two knives.
I actually liked them a lot, but then the FFG versions were so much better. I still like them as "spares".
The Hawkbills are new additions, and I'm still figuring out how to best use them.
If I ever go to the "bad part of town", I'll take the Civilian with me.
I don't add a Large knife to my CD every day, but I do carry one about half the time.
I also use the Larger knives for heavier around the house work (branches, cardboard boxes, etc).

Smaller Knives

Delica FFG - EDC Rotation
Delica Combo Edge - Not Used Much

Civilian - Not Used Much

If I'm honest

I should have bought the FFG Delica and Endura first. Then no Combo Edges.
But, in the beginning, I didn't even know that FFG existed.
The Civilian will probably never see use, it's really just for show.

Please stop me before I buy more !!!!!!!!! :D

The funny thing..is that I was looking at a Pacific Salt at WallyWorld and my Para didnt even get here yet ! Im getn in too deep..its a little too late for me. My wife asked me what do I want for my birthday and I emailed her 3 pics..all Spydercos (Sage, Delica & Pacific Salt) within my bday gift $ limit lol.

I think Gooeytek had the best idea lol
