hey i'm looking at buying the Spyderco Persistence for an EDC. is there anything i just know before buying one? thanks.

The only real downside is that you are going to eventually want to buy its 3 siblings.

Nice size for EDC. Smallish, but stout. Decent steel. Nice G10. 4-way stainless clip. Not spendy. And you probably won't cry like a baby if you lose it.

haha yeah 8CR13MOV in my opinion is pretty good its not the best i mean id take VG10 or 14C28N over it any day. but a lot of people like to hate on it just because its from china. I do not. and yeah it does tend to rust but i don't live in a very humid place so its not bad. haha and yeah i probably will eventually buy its brothers but we'll see. keep the comments coming. thanks.

I personally think the Presistence is a fantastic edc knife FOR ITS PRICE POINT. Its benifit over tenecious, resilience[ HAVE NOT TRIED AMBITIOUS] is it offters some thumb protection on miscaculated blade closure. WELL WORTH THE CASH.

I've heard good things about it, but I've also heard that the handle is a little uncomfortable (same thing with the tenacious).

I was really close to pulling the trigger on one a while back, but decided against it for a number of reasons (not really related, just changed my perceived usage) and got something else instead.

Carried mine for a month, but decided a Kershaw Blur fit more of my style. I gave the Persistence to my wife for a purse carry, she's been flipping it all day...and loving it.

may i ask what you got instead?

You sure can. I got a Boker Exskelimoor II. Initially I wanted a generic 2.75in bladed folder (wanted something non-threatening at where I work in business casual). I was trying to get something kinda fancy ish, as well as functional and tough. In the end I decided to get something fancier, and then something more "outdoorsy". It was just too hard to find what I wanted in one blade at my price point, so I went with getting two blades.

The Boker is the same blade length as the persistence, but less scary looking (good where I work). I haven't gotten a more outdoorsy folder yet (got BK11 for that), but I've been looking at a RAT1.

Not sure if that helps, but thats what I went with.

haven't held the Persistence. But I have the tenacious and the value is hard to beat. The ergonomics are pretty damn good. great blade shape and design. Steel's not the greatest, but sharpens up nicely. a little chunky in the pocket, but not bad.

thanks bro. and yeah you don't want a knife that you pull out and everyone goes running. so ya i think you made a good choice. I've also been looking at the rat because everyone seems to love it.
