First off, I'm not sure if this would go under the 'Knife Laws' category or the 'Spyderco' category. I'm really sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. Still kinda new when writing new forums.
Onto the main topic of the Spyderco Pingo. Being someone who loves to travel both across the US and to other countries AND would love to carry a knife where ever I possibly can, there are still a lot of countries out there that have stricter knife laws than good old NYC (I go there quite often). Which has quite terrible knife laws, as far as I'm concerned.
So a few months ago, I was looking for a 'legal by law' knife I would carry for vacation to China & Japan. Through extensive searching, I've found a knife (under $50 USD) that is less tactical looking than the Lansky World Legal knife, but much higher quality. And that knife is the Spydie Pingo. Specs could be found here: bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Pingo-Slip-It-Folding--13621.
What I've found out is that this awesome little Pingo satisfies the carry laws of:
- China's "blade tip angle must be over 60 degrees" law (Apparently they have a blade limit of 15cm(~6") for pocket knives & can't have a locking nor fixed blade)
- New York City's 4" blade limit & no lock
- Hungary's~3.1" blade limit (didn't find anywhere that says there's any locking laws)
- UK's 3" blade limit & no lock
- Denmark's ~2.75" blade limit & no lock
- Boston's 2.5" blade limit & no lock
- Japan's ~2.36" blade limit & no lock
Pretty much a 'World Legal' knife as far as I'm concerned.
★★If there's any other cities & general countries this wonder of a knife is 'legal by law' in, please leave a comment and let the others know!! Thanks
