A few days ago my friend finally brought me the knives I ordered from James Mattis. I ordered K2, 4 and 5. They are just GREAT!!!

Sal, thank you for re-introducing the plain blade versions of your kitchen knives. They instantly replaced the rest of our kitchen cutlery. My girlfriend does not want to use anything else now. Not only the blades are very sharp and have excellent shape, also the handles are very convenient.

Thank you (Sal & James) once again.

David

PS: Here is the picture. James I hope you do not mind. http://www.chaicutlery.com/spyderco/spy-kitchen-new-0899.jpg

PS2: And the whole transaction was enabled by Internet (no calls, letters, checks...etc). Without Internet (and BF) I would not even know of James Mattis and/or plain blade Spyderco KKs.

David - your very welcome.

BTW, they were not "re-introduced", this was simply a test. I don't think that sales is interested in replacing them. They're just about all gone here, so it you have any interest in these pcs, get'm now.

I got the impression that you were making those knives some years ago - and if you take look at the picture on James Mattis web site - it says the same (re -introduction).

Anyway I am surprised that you do not plan to continue with them. I can compare them with some European cutlery and Kershaw for example and they are much better (IMO).

David - Just got the word from Susan this morning of a new decision to to continue to make them next year. Sorry, didn't mean to lie.

We have found nothing to compare with MBS-26 for kitchen knives. MBS-26 gets sharper than VG-10 and has equal edge retention to VG-10. It sill also do this at a very thin grind without becoming brittle. It is also quite hard in the RC60/61 range.

Gotta quit missing those meetings, Sal.

Now if we can just People Who Cook to understand that RC60 is harder than RC55, and harder cuts better! Logically, Spyderco's line of MBS26 kitchen knives should be more desirable than Mitteleuropa Mystery Steel, but who said it's an orderly universe?

I tried placing the line in a local butcher shop that had a rack of POS knives next to the cash register. People look at them and say "too expensive." Don't know how Henckels gets away with their prices. I wonder if the Spyderco line could be worked into any of those gourmet mail order catalogs?

Yes it is good news indeed.

By now all my friends know what the best kitchen knife in the world is.

Unfortunately it will not generate more orders since average price for kitchen knife here (in Czech Rep.)is about 3 USD and 7 dollar knife is considered expensive.
