When the knife arrived earlier this week I pulled out my benchmade 710HS that I had just bought the day before and used it to cut open the box. My first thought was Maybe I should have got this instead. I really like this knife but Im not sure why. Its well made, fits my hand well, and cuts great.
When I first got it was not as sharp as I thought it should be. A quick round on the Sharpmaker did wonders for it. This is my first time using S30V and I was quite impressed with its performance. I was a little leery of the titanium handles; I have never cared much for metal handles as I find them slippery and hard to hold onto. This knife on the other hand was a welcomed exception. The size and contour of the titanium handles fit my hand like a glove. (And Im not talking about an OJ glove.)
Speaking of gloves, I found a place where this knife excels over other folders. When using gloves! I found it easy to work this knife one handed with my winter gloves on. Thanks in part to the Cobra hood, and the compression lock.
As to the negatives? It is a little on the big side for an EDC knife. I found it hard to get a good grasp when drawing from the front pocket, and would have to adjust my grip in order to open. The price is a little high for me, at a little over $200.
I wish I had more time with this knife. One week is not enough time to really get a good feel for a knife. I have found a month is about what it takes for me on a new knife.
