Spyderco PM2 blk/blk question

I have long used my digicam/satin PM2 and just pulled the triggered on a blackout PM2. I have heard a couple places that the black g10 is not as grippy as the digicam g10. Is this just a myth? Also, how does the DLC coating hold up? I have no problems with it getting scratched up as long as it doesn't peel or chip off in large pieces

When I close my eyes and switch them around and around, I CANNOT feel any difference.
The DLC is reputed to hold up quite well, although I have no personal experience with relative wear patterns.

I have 3 and another coming, the digi is the most grippy. The black/black DLC holds up great.

It's my EDC, and I do not use it lightly. I beat the tar out of this thing. The adherence of the DLC is great. No flaking or chipping. It is a coating, and it'll wear. But it is the best blade coating I've used. I got a couple small dings on the spine that went through the coating. I'd have expected some of the coating to flake off around those, but it hasn't. I'm sold on Spyderco's DLC coating.

And IMHO, it looks better with some good honest wear.

i own the black/silver one and picked up a digi/silver on the forum hear,i was vary supersized how more griper the G-10 was! as for the DLC the stuff is vary hard and should last a lifetime!

Seedubs1, I just noticed yours has a white spider and mine has a black.

I cant feel a difference between the black and digicam G10.
And I think you will be impressed with how durable the DLC is, I've not seen any sign of DLC flaking, and it takes a lot to scratch it.
This one belongs to a farmer mate of mine and he uses it without reservation in all sorts of very harsh ways.
Despite the damage he has managed to inflict on it, and it took some repeatedly harsh use to do so, it doesn't flake at all around scratches.

Just to reiterate, to damage DLC like that takes some real harsh treatment. I have a black/DLC para 2 thats a few years old, seen a lot of use, and whilst it shows some faint signs of wear, it's not scratched through at all.

I have owned both, and while I haven't done a "blind" test, I never perceived one to be any grippier than the other - although I wasn't 'looking' for it either.
Carried a DLC coated PM2 every day for 2 years and used it moderately hard (cardboard, rope, fishing, light camping chores), and the most impact I ever saw to the DLC coating were rub and scuff marks … never flaked, chipped or scratched through the coating.

Well it arrived today! I got a great specimen. My only gripe is that the backlock is satin and not black. Other than that I think I'm gonna love this version.

Any of y'all know what that thing is on the blade? Looks like a man smoking a joint, what does it signify or indicate? I have the one is black, very nice knife.

Do you mean Sal Glessers Signature? The other letter near the pivot is Eric Glessers signature.
