This quick review is for members who concealed carry a gun. (Not for LEO or Military purpose on duty )

Hi guys!

I catched and released quit a few knives here and there and I was still looking for that one knife to use, specifically for self defense and emergency use, until I found the PM2.

My quest for that knife started when a buddy of mine showed me his new ZT 0562 CF. We both likes guns , but he is nuts about having both😇. He told me I should get a quality knife to carry around and this started my knife hunting. I bought my first knife which is a BM Stryker Axis, then a few BM Balisongs , then a Presidio auto (which I find a bit thick and scale is prone to scratches). Then lastly, I got a two Hinderers (Xm18 spanto and Eklipse Tanto both bought used from the forum.)

Unfortunately, , I sold them all and kept the 2 Hinderer knives. Both Hinderers are very solidly built and extremely very smooth to flick, specially the XM 18 3.5 series. So having both , I thought I had the best knives to carry until reality strikes me. I apendix carry my gun ( I am a righty) and I realized I can't have all my arsenal positioned on my strong right hand side. I original wanted an auto , but for self defense a quality auto cost around $200 or more.

One night I was browsing the classified in this forum and saw an all black PM2 like new for $105 shipped.
I showed my wife and she said, it's ugly. LOL! I was also not a fan of the big eye hole on the blade and the beak like looking blade.:D So I took my chances and bought it blindly.

The PM 2 arrived and I was amazed how solidly built it was! I have seen guys use their ring finger to open it blindingly quick like short porn movie. 😂 So as I observed and fondle the knife , it amazes me that there are 4 ways for the clip to be positioned so you can have different options to clip it in your pocket.
So the right pocket carry is a no go for me due to my gun on the same right side with my strong arm.
Basically I am left with 2 options. Left front pocket tip up or tip down using my left weak hand.
I tried tip up using my left hand and it is doable , but there are lots of learning curve to flick it open using the left hand. Tough to do it under stress.

So finally I was down to one option which is TIP DOWN. Drawing the knife from my front left pocket using my weak left hand did WORK! That UGLY large " BIRD EYE HOLE " in the blade serves it's purpose! (See video below) I don't need to really practice much. I know I can do it quicker, but the video shows opening it using my left weak hand for the first or two trials.

It is also a $100 knife (used) not like my Hinderer which I am paranoid to scratch or bang it around.

It is a WIN WIN for me !

Here she is ! 😀

The only trick carrying in this position is when you pick the knife inside the pocket. You have to put the pointy finger and the thumb inside the pocket and not the traditional pointy finger outside the pocket while the thumb is inside.

Also, the first step is to pull the knife out of the pocket without putting both fingers in the blade hole. So make sure both fingers are straight . If you pull the knife inside the pocket by the blade hole, you"ll deploy the blade inside your pocket which is a no no!

Step # 1

Step # 2 Pointy finger and thumb are straight while holding the side of the folder.

Step # 4 Hold the blade tighter on the blade hole and snap or flick the bottom handle.

There are all kinds of good opinions on this one.
My preference is rt-hand concealed handgun...left rear pocket with Emerson Waved Endura. Love the Wave...keep it simple.

I've been opening my old police model like this since the eighties being a lefty and all and also carrying a sidearm.

I am left-handed, and am almost always carrying a sidearm, so I carry my knives on my weak side (right). Folder in right front pocket or if a fixed blade on my right hip (belt), firearm on my dominant side. I've been doing it so many years now that I deploy my knives very quickly with my right hand. I thumb flick my spyderco open with my right hand. It's very fast.
