Happy knife dance....!

My PE Spyderco Police collecion is finally completed after 3 years... (was completed a years back but my father was so impressed by the G-10 model that I had to give it to him... )

I will be looking for a display case next for my
- SS
- CF
- G-10
- G-10 (liner-less)

I'll go look for older Militaries next (ATS-34, 440V).

Yipee.... happy knife dance....

That's pretty cool!

Why did they stop make a G-10 version? I'd love to get a G-10 Police for myself and for my cousin - who is a Police officer.

Thanks!

Congratulations Sean. There is also an earlier "PIG" versian (rare), and some aftermarket pieces like the "Earthling".

Hi Ajnova. Ususally models are retired for slow sales. It seems that not everyone likes all of the refinements or variations of particular models and they go.

We've brought back a few as "tests" or "sprints" like the gray Calypso jr (test), the current black bladed Military (test) or the VG-10 Spur "Sprint" due later this year.

Congrats, Sean. I had a G10 Police PE but I sold it off a while back. :( That Spydie was so nice, that I couldn't bear carrying it for EDC and it usually sat at home, in the box, locked up in the safe. One of these days, I'll hopefully pick up another one.

BTW, Sal. Is the "current" black bladed Military available now, or is it from an older sprint run??? I wouldn't mind adding another Millie to my collection.

Mr. Glesser,

Are they anywhere for sale yet? Any pictures of them yet?

Can we look forward to more black bladed Spyderco's in the future?

Thank you!

Hi Ajnova. We try to pay attention to our customers. So we do a lot of short runs to test and see if the interest is really there.

The Calypso "Gray" is the result of ELU request. Black handles on the Dodo & Yojimbo likewise.

Our Spyderfly was the result of a question asked on a thread on the bali forum.

Our neck knives were the result of ELU request.

Black Millies just started shipping yesterday.

I have two variants: the SS fully serrated and the current CF VG-10 plain version. Liked the CF version so much that I bought 2.

Congrats on your collection of this classic tactical folder.

Cosmic Superchunk: Sorry, no pics...spent all my $ on knives...

:D

Well, I've come across some after-market as well as aluminium and titanium Police but they are either too expensive (after-market) or too beat-up with chips and scratches (aluminium and titanium). But I'll still keep my eyes open and will be expending my police collection if possible.

In my humble opinion, the G-10 is the most suitable for EDC as it resist scratches the best. SS is tough but you'll have to swallow the bitter pill and get over the first few scratches..... The CF is my safe queen.....

Mr. Sal and guys: I'll be looking out for the aluminium and titanium ones, hope you can help. Thanks for a the support and the great products!

Sean

Yes K man, there was an aluminum version. According to "The SPYDERCO Story", page 81, "Aluminum scales with TUFRAM coating were introduced but discontinued due to cosmetic blemishes in the coating."

I immediately went into my safe and checked. I must be lucky, no blemishes I can see.

The knife does have a strange-feeling, very blade heavy balance.

I don't want to make the collection seem less-complete, but the PE CF Police model was available in both Left and Right hand variants. Also, in case you're looking for other things to spend your $$ on, you may want to look for the different blade markings like the original blades which were either marked GIN-1 steel, G-2 steel, or just no steel marked (very earliest I have found on other models). The SS plain-edge Police models used to be marketed as left or right hand variants as well, per the '95-'96 Ironstone catalog I just unearthed.

Well... I collect only PE right-hand models because

1) I can sharpen PE to a frightening edge but somehow I tend to destroy SE...Strange...(Hence, I'm trading my SE Military).

2) I am a right-hander and south paw folder feels funny to me when I hold them.

I have the SS PE Police without marking, GIN-1, G-2, ATS-55 and VG-10.
The CF and G-10 in ATS-55. I even have 2 black (BT-coated) Police, PE and SE, but they don't seem to be coated wel, so the coating looks kinda funky now. Therefore, I don't really consider them as part of the collection.

Thanks Blades.
I was aware of the existence of the Ti Police, but was surprised that Joe said he had a Ti Military...probably it's a mixup?

Man,you had my heart pounding there for a minite.
The Magnisium Military proto is sweet though.I wish a sprint run of it would come out.
