Spyderco Police in the movie "The Client"?

This past week I saw the movie "The Client". The actor that was playing Blades was flashing a Spderco Police in stainless with the spyder edge. At least that is what I though it was. But there was some kind of design on the handle, and I could not quite make it out. Was this knife a custom Police model, or am I just seeing things--again.
Thanks, Big D1

I believe it was a custom decorated Police model, you are right.

For more movies in which the Police model appears, check out the following:

Fight Club

The Avengers

Jennifer 8

Exposure (I haven't seen it, but heard the Police plays a part in it).

I knew that I had seen a Police in some movie and it was The Client. I was trying to remember what movie it was in. Thanks for reminging me.

The Police Model in the Client was embellished by Gary Blanchard (Blanchard Cutlery is in Vegas where he engraves while you watch). Spyderco carried Blanchard engraved C07 Police and C13 Pro-Venator models in 1992. They were discontinued in 1993. Really impressive, beautiful work.

Joyce, where could I see pictures of those?

Other Spyderco sightings:

In Eraser, with Arnold, terrorist had one flashed it briefly.

In Needful Things, One was used to kill a dog.

Both of these were the Endura II I believe.

can't remember anymore right now.

Here is a thumbnail of the Police with Gary Blanchard's work. Seems that he liked them since he used a picture of them in his advertising for a few years.

The picture does not do the knife justice. It is beautiful and very well made as usual.
If you click on the thumbnail pic, you can see more detail.

Gus: Thanks for the nice pic of Blanchard's work. Oh man, I would love to have that piece. Any idea how much art work like this costs? Big D1

Not sure what they are going for now, and that one is in my collection. I purchased it at issue. It came in a nice padded zipper pouch (dark blue) with a gold spyder etched or embossed on the outside.

Yet another Spyderco sighting:

In Bad Boys with Will Smith, a bad guy flashes an Aluminum Spyderedge Civilian (it is kind of hard to see and it could just be the lighting, but it looks like a brushed finish not Tufram

).

The sighting is at the beginning of the bathroom fight scene that takes place inside "Club Hell". (SE DVD, ch.16)

Does anyone know if they did an Aluminum Spyderedge Civilian without the Tufram coating?

Ben

Bengaiser,
My answer to your question is my first post to the Forums.
I can tell you that there were Civilians made without the Tuffram coating. I know, I have one. I remember when Blade Magazine featured an article on it many years ago, I called the Cutlery Shoppe and got one of the first Civilians that had the non-Tuffram finish.

Anyone know what these babies are worth nowadays?

Hi! Welcome to the forums. Is your non-tufram finished civilian plain edge or spyder edge?

Ben

Ben,
My Civvie is a SpyderEdge with the plain aluminum (non-Tuffram finish).

I'll admit that it was an impulse buy (one of the best modes of thought when interested in a Spyderco knife!) and it was one of the best things I've ever done. Love that knife...and no, I've never used it - it's mint in the cloth zippered case it came in and even has the original box.

Does anyone know how many of these were made?

Anyone ever see 'Strange Days'? Two Spydies in that one.

First, a woman flicks out a Rescue (She was going to fight with it, he he he

) then, towards the end, a guy is stabbed with a Police or an Endura, can't remember which right now.
