Its an excellent value... and I think one of the all-time cool designs, especially the blade. I just wish they would change up the smooth SS scales. Surely after all this time we could have an insert of some kind, or cross-hatching to add traction or even a G10 version? A G10 version would be all-time awesome.

They were pretty nice, but a bit hard to find now.

Just started carrying my extra Gen 2 S/S VG10 PE Police -- One Way Tip Down Only Clip w/the Boyle Dent in the lockbar release latch and with "Police" but not the Spydie Bug engraved on the blade -- probably made some time between 2002-2007.

I also have a matched set of Gen 2 S/S VG10 Police with blades in PE, PS & FS which are identical to this one except that there's a Spydie Bug also engraved on the blades.

Per SpydieWiki, the Boyle Dent was adopted in 2001 when they were still using ATS-55 blade steel. The VG10 Gen 3 was made between 2008-2016. And the Gen 4 has been made since then.

The Black G10 PE Gen 3 that I own still has the Boye Dent but it is less pronounced than on the Gen 2 but the Black G10 PE Gen 4 K390 that I own no longer does.

BTW, I just put a LNIB Gen 1 PIG Police on my "want list" but I'm not going to hold my breath while waiting to find one. ;)

Probably wise. It took me 14 years to land one in decent used condition at a reasonable price. LNIB is likely going to cost $1500 or more these days

Yes, I'm aware of this but unfortunately (or not, depending on your POV) that's the price range I'm dabbling in now that I've expanded my willingness to pay for the few remaining "grail" or "unicorn" knives that I'd like to have to complete my collection. 🤷‍♂️

But that doesn't mean I'll drop that kind of $ for any knife. It has to be in LNIB condition and for a price that I consider "reasonable" (given the current market) before I do.

That said, I just dropped $900 on a LNIB original Slysz Bowie CTS-XHP and $800 on a LNIB ZT0777.

So, my wallet is open for the "right knife."
