The SS Spyderco Police with the PE looks pretty good to me now that it has a VG-10 blade. However, the lock back seems too small and shallow for such a long knife. Has anyone had trouble with the lock on their Police? Does the lock seem strong enough? Thanks.

Spyderco makes a good lockback. It might seem a bit weak being smaller, but will hold up fine.

My G-10 Police model locks up tight and secure and seems plenty strong.
I have total faith in this lock.

I guess there's only one way to discover if you have pushed your lock too far...and then it's too late.

Post over in the Spyderco forum if you need more info about the lock strength. More likely to catch the attention of Sal Glesser in there.

I have no qualms or reservations about the strength of the lock on my Police model(s) at all...I trust it with MY fingers. As far as that goes, I trust ALL of the Spyderco lock-back folders, as I have never had one fail me.

The lock on police is pretty strong, if that's the only thing you are worrying about, go ahead and get one.
IMO, the tip is what you should worry about, it's easy to bend when doing hard penetration... Anyway, it performs great for its purpose.

Thanks guys. I bought a SS Spyderco Police PE today. The fit and finish are really good. I doubt if I’ll have any trouble with the lock. I’m pretty easy on my knives anyway. :)
