Hello:

I'm new to the forum. I have enjoyed knives of all kinds for some time and am in the process of learning to make them.

I am currently looking st a Poliwog for EDC

Question: what do others think about this knife?

Thanks,

JP

handled one at the presentation-show. a nice technical knife with a wild new look and a nice feel in the hand; almost bought one.

reasons for me to not buy it were:

- too short a blade
- not too fond of the ball-bearing lock
- tip-up clip only
- steel (realtively heavy for such a lil' bugger :).)
- pricepoint

YMMV, JMHO.

Nice- and radical for Spyderco...I like the knife- but, I do NOT like the wire pocket clip. If they would have put the regular pocket clip on I would have already bought one.

I have had my "Wog" for a couple of months now. Love it! This is my most carried EDC at work (company frowns on carrying large knives). It's looks are great and feels great in my (large) hand. Doesn't peel the hide off your hand when you reach into your pocket for keys, change, etc.. It is also "sheeple" friendly. When you pull it out it doesn't look no where near like a pocket knife. When it is open and in your hand the blade is hardly noticeable. Also when the "sheeple" do see it, they are more times than not intriqued with it. I like the BB lock and have had no problems with. The blade comes from the factory exceptionally sharp. Really like it alot. If you can spring for the price, I think you will be happy with it.

It is an excellent design-functional and very solid. Although it is a pretty small knife, it fits the hand very well.

They really put a lot of good thinking into the Wog! I like mine and use it regularly.

if memory serves me right Eric Glesser designed it.....

it does look wicked and spacey, doesn't it?! :)

THanks for all the info. I got one yesterday for $78 on ebay. As far as I can tell this was an excellent deal.

That is a great deal! I hope that you like it. If not, then you should be able to make a couple of bucks on it.

It's legal about everywhere. Ambidextorous. One hand open/close. Very ergonomic.

I love the ball-lock, blade shape and performance.

Wish they had a different clip, and G-10 or FRN for handle material.

I heard they may be coming out with a black blade which would be cool.

This knife weighs more than a quarter of a pound- quite heavy for the size. If you wear suspenders or have a belt pouch, maybe you won't mind, but there is simply no need for a knife this size to be that heavy, IMO.

At the same time, it's well built. No blade play. Fit and finish are excellent. I would like a G-10 handle version with full steel liners. If it's an all FRN handle, forget it. Defeats the point.

My only reason i have yet to get one is the price... Otherwise anything with the ball bearing lock and/or a wire clip has my name all over it. :D

Actually, now that i'm thinking of it, i really might get it as a gift for someone this christmas. :)

I handled one a few weeks ago. That was the most comfortable folder I've ever held. I've been meaning to get ahold of a Dodo for comparison, but that one is the best so far. Of course I didn't do any work with it, so I wouldn't know how it feels in longer periods of use. I liked the ball lock, it felt dependable and wasn't hard to disengage like from what I've read about it.
