I'm a getting confused. I think I've seen the spyderco PPT described as a knife with titanium lock and liner, but it wasn't mentioned on the product page. http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=462

I put a magnet to the lock and they were attracted to each other. should titanium react on magnets?

can someone help me understand?

another question, if it is a titanium lock, will spyderco replace it if it wears out?

Question: Where have you seen it advertised as being a Ti frame/liner lock? You sure it wasn't someone that assumed it was because of the lock type? When I first saw the knife, it looked like Ti, but the price would make it unlikely. Titanium is a non ferrous metal, so magnets won't have any impact on it.

The warranty on most knives covers materials and craftsmanship, not normal wear and tear. This means if there is a defect in the metal, like a void, or is structurally unsound, it will be replaced. The craftsmanship aspect means that your knife is warrantied to be assembled correctly by the time it leaves the factory. If you wear out the lock from regular use, then it lived a good life.

I was just damn sure I saw it mentioned as titanium somewhere. doesn't really matter, steel is from my understanding stronger and more durable, also I don't mind the extra weight of steel. the luxury of titanium would be nice, just not for a lock.

I was under the same impression. I think I heard a video reviewer mention it being titanium liner and lock, but now I cannot find it.

Just because some reviewer said it was doesn't make it so. I've heard the same thing said about the Military, but they are steel as well.

Yea, I see that now. I haven't done much research on the PPT, just watched that one video review. I only mentioned it to see if the OP might have watched the same reviewer.

Its definitely stainless steel on the production version , perhaps you were thinking about the custom version THAT is made from titanium. A steel lock face on a steel blade tang should not give you any trouble with wear for that matter Ti on steel should last you a while as well.
