They're deal killer for me. In my country Spyderco Shaman for example is ~$60 more expensive than one similar design from Benchmade which is $10 more expensive than Shaman.

Shaman price in USA at one famous dealer ~$181
That BM at the same dealer ~$192

Shaman price in Poland at dealers ~ $261*
Similar knife from BM ~ $200*

Sal, I would like to buy Spyderco locally but I don't know if dealers are ripping me off or your prices for local dealers are too high? Sorry if that topic is somehow indelicate but that situation really piss me off.

Almost nobody I know is paying that prices. Some people buy Spyderco from USA directly or buy cheaper alternatives from competition.

I live in Spain and, to some extent, I feel your pain. I never made a comparison between brands/models and US/Spanish dealers but I do know that it is always cheaper to buy overseas than locally (shipping charges included). What I used to do (been a long time since the last multi-knife purchase) is to try and buy several knives from the same dealer at the same time (even asking friends if they want some). This helps sharing shipping expenses.

Other thing I do is just buying from the exchange. I know that a flat rate International Shipping box is like $32, so I just keep that in mind when comparing prices...

Buying locally is more comfortable and quicker. Those prices just killing Spyderco here as competition for other brands.

Hi Ourgon,

We understand and are working on it all of the time. All of our International distributor get special prices. The problem seems to be more with all of the local taxes countries in Europe have. We have special meetings with our International distributors every year at the SHOT show. We've come up with some solutions, but pricing is still an issue. We're always open to suggestions?

All my 23 Spydercos I bought online from the U.S.
Postage to New Zealand from many dealers is around US$30, but I always look for cheaper postage, KC for example has an option of US$16.

The following prices are all in NZ$, the first is the price here in NZ, the 2nd what it would cost me to buy one from KC with cheap postage.

Tenacious: $109 $86
Native 5 S110V G10: $375 $254
Para2: $279 $214
Endura: $175 $132
Military: $329 $264

Part of the difference is anything under NZ$400 I buy from overseas doesn't get charged the 15% tax upon arrival here. Local retailers have to add that 15%.

Sal Glesser Sal Glesser thank you for your response here. May I please say, I sincerely hope Spyderco does not do what BM and ZT have done, that is implement a policy of asking US dealers to not ship internationally, as a means of compelling someone like me to buy within country. Please don't do that.
My most recent is a Para3 in CF/S90V (very pleased with it) and sprints like that aren't available over here, not to mention the awesome variety of DE Para2's I have that I can only buy online from the U.S.

Benchmade does that but their prices at least in my country are almost the same like at US dealers. I don't know how they did it. Only few $$$ difference, something I would pay anyway for shipment. But local dealers don't have full BM offer and that's bad.

I hope that in future Spyderco prices become more friendly in my country, because I really like those new knives with compression lock.

Sal, thank you for reading that. It mean a lot.
