Spyderco- puzzled about my NATIVE CFP

First off, new guy here. I've been lurking for a couple of months and steadily buying knives. I've been mostly a Benchmade buyer. To my taste many of the Spydercos look cheesy... especially with that web design in the handle. I did buy a NATIVE FRN and I've been really impressed. Great knife for the money. Based on that I just bought the NATIVE CFP. It was pricey but I was impressed with the specs.

I just received it and I'm disappointed in a couple of things. First, there is simply no way to open it without using two hands. The "action" when the blade is opened is very bumpy (not the right term I'm sure, but that's what it feels like.) There is no way I can flip it open just using the hole like I can with ll of my BMs. Secondly, unlocking it is also very sticky. I can press the unlock lever and the blade actually sticks and doesn't move sometimes.

I'm probably not explaining this in the right terms but I'd say that in general it feels way to "tight". Is there something I should to loosen it? I'm hesitant to start messing with it.

Lastly, I was really disappointed to see Made in Japan on the blade. I should have seen this on their website. That's my last complaint... their site is simply atrocious.

Before I get involved with their customer service I'm curious if there are any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

For future reference all VG10 and ZDP189 Spydercos are produced in Japan.

Their lockbacks often have a break in period. If you open and close the knife for a few days, or just carry and use it a week or two, it will really smooth out. Also in my experience on a lot of their knives you can unlock them and the blade will stay put, rather than freely swing around. I prefer this myself as I feel it's safer, but if you like it to freely swing you can try taking apart the knife and polishing the pivot area and lubing it well.

You should definitely be able to open it one handed. If you don't feel confident that it's going to break in and be smooth it might be worth contacting the company.

Good luck with your knife.
