So after looking at the 2012 Catalog I saw this was planned as a sprint run. After googling it, it appears to be the third iteration of this knife. My questions are:
1) Were the two previous versions both skeletonized?
2) Does anyone know what the blade steel is going to be?
3) How good looking is the nishijin glass fiber?
4) Is it the same as the nishijin carbon fiber used on the Lum Chinese?
5) Is it grippy or smooth?
6) What country is it going to be made in? (R was Golden, R2 was Japan)

thanks!

I saw one up for preorder and they had the steel listed as VG-10, which also helps answer 6 since it implies Japan pretty strongly. I have absolutely no clue on the other questions.

IIRC, the R was skeletonized blade and handle, the R2 was cutout handle and solid blade, and it looks like the Sprint will finally be something I'd buy.

Looks like a shorter Endura with a choil and fancy handles...I like it! I'm guessing VG-10 steel made in Japan.

So after looking at the 2012 Catalog I saw this was planned as a sprint run. After googling it, it appears to be the third iteration of this knife. My questions are:
1) Were the two previous versions both skeletonized? As Jack noted, the original R had a skeletonized blade and handle and the R2 had a solid blade and a skeletonized handle
2) Does anyone know what the blade steel is going to be? Catalog illustration is a bit blurry, but it appears to say VG-10
3) How good looking is the nishijin glass fiber? That's a matter of personal taste. If you like swirly patterns, you may consider it attractive. To me its meh.
4) Is it the same as the nishijin carbon fiber used on the Lum Chinese? Yes, that was glass fiber too, not CF.
5) Is it grippy or smooth? Slick - smooth and shiny
6) What country is it going to be made in? (R was Golden, R2 was Japan) Incorrect. Both the R and R2 were made in Japan. Between that and the Nishijin glass fiber it's using, I'd bet this one will be made there as well.

thanks!
Hope the above helps.
