Spyderco repair shop - special requests?

I think Buck's repair service will do semi-custom work if parts are available (ie, send in your 110 and get different steel if they have the blades).

Will Spyderco's repair shop replace the blade on my yellow Salt I with a VG10 blade if I provide both knives (ie, make a yellow delica)? Or maybe put a new VG10 Delica blade on the old-style (integrated clip) Merlin handle I have (ie, make an old-style Delica with a new blade)?

I was going to try doing it myself, but I haven't done any work on factory knives, only junky home-made knives that I made myself and therefore can't screw up.

I doubt they'd do it for you. The FRN is held by rivets is why I think they would not do it, but I am no authority on the matter either.

They only do warranty and repair, not custom work. As far as switching blades, they don't even stock spare blades for any of the Japan built knives - the VG-10 models.

buck is cool about some semi custom stuff, the satin finished the blade and clip on my 880, looks pretty darned good, $10 IIRC which for that is a deal imho.
