So I got the resilience today, and my very first impression is that it's huge! Don't think I'll be able to use this much in public. But I love it. Very smooth opening and closing, I do like the spyderhole. And although it is a liner-lock, it's a very strong one. Now, like most of you, I was very skeptical of the 8cr13mov steel, but I'm really happy with it. I did a few tests earlier cutting paper, cardboard, paracord, ropes and I used it in some food prep.

It cut the paper beautifully, no tearing, perfect straight cuts. And it cut through rope and cardboard with very little pressure. My 5 year old could've cut through these with ease.

It does say China on the blade, but to me, that's a bad thing. What people tend to forget is that, while the Chinese do make things with cheap materials, this knife is not one of them. This knife is very high quality, very sharp right out of the box. You would not be disappointed. But now that I have the resilience, I think the tenacious would be better for EDC.

It's not too heavy, I don't really notice it in my pocket. It weighs less than my iPhone 5s, so it doesn't bother me. The pocket clip is VERY strong. If you clip it on your pants, it won't come off unless you want it to.

Now the handles, some people said they didn't really like it, but I do. It g-10 and the texture on it is comparable to that of metal file (like the ones found in pocket knives) it's not slippery at all, good grip, even when wet, and very durable. There is some nice jimping on the top of the blade, which offers a comfortable grip, and there is some jimping where your index finger lies, but I don't really think it offers more grip. (Not that it needs it). That's it for now, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will be posting pictures around 2:30 pm (it is now 12:15 on the east coast)

Do you know the date of manufacture? I think it should be on the blade somewhere. Secondly, how is the blade detent. My Tenacious had a bad habit of opening too easily and I almost cut myself a couple of times retrieving it from my pocket.

The Tenacious does make a decent EDC but in my humble opinion, the Persistence is the better EDC between the two. I thought it would be too small for me but, the handle is only marginally smaller than that of the Tenacious and the shorter blade length makes it more sheeple friendly. Absolutely love these value line Spydercos, thanks for the write up.

I have had a Resilience in my stable for some time now. Given its price point of ~$40 shipped it has been quite impressive. S110V impressive? Course not. But when I need one to take extra hard use, that's what I reach for.
I am guilty of taking a extra bit of care on my really good ones, so the Resilience is there to take the beating.
Cheers...

Couldn't find the date of manufacture, and I don't have a way to take it apart and check, as for the detent of the blade, I think it's fine, it doesn't shake loose or open in my pocket or anything. But I've definitely had knives that were stronger. For the price, I don't mind it a bit

I agree with you there, I was thinking of getting the ontario rat 2 as my smaller, edc, but then again, the spyderco native 5 is looking pretty good too!

I agree, no doubt. I tend to really abuse this knife, I'm not going to baton with it or anything, but for $40, I don't mind beating it up. And I've actually been looking for a stronger knife, s30v is definitely in my comfort zone (budget wise) but elmax, d2, ats-34 and maybe even m2.

Date of manufacture will be the code on the box. AN would be Jan 2014 for example.
Best...

JDX. thanks for the review. I have held this knife multiple times now in person, and I just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Due to its size, I can't really think what I'd use it for an EDC role. But darned if it isn't comfortable in the hand. The only thing holding me back is that both places I found it at were charging about $25-$30 more than I've seen it online for. And of course, every time I go online with knife funds in hand, something else always gets shipped to my house instead!!
