Hello everyone. This is my first thread and I think this is a great forum with invaluable information. The people around here really know their stuff when it comes to knives.

Just bought a spyderco robin and I have to say this is one nice knife for the money. The lockback has no play in the blade whatsoever. The blade is extremely sharp and is very thick at the spine. The comet shaped thumbhole makes for quick opening, although it is slightly bigger than necessary. The handle fits very comfortably and securely in the hand. The clip is heavy duty stainless steel. The only drawback is the weight, slightly heavy because of the stainless steel handle. But I have to say the steel handle is more attractive and tougher than the plastic handle on my FRN Delica.

Cool , glad you like it :) I like stainless handles too but they tend to get marred easily it seems , I use a bit of Flitz on my CaraCara every so often and it cleans it up but you can still se the scratches from coins , lighters and etc.

The Robin is a pretty cool little knife...it is one of my favorite among the Byrd line from Spyderco...just something about how it feels in the hand with the double sides of jimping.:D Doc

I've noticed that the ss handle does scratch easily, but this doesn't bother me. A knife is a tool and it will get scratched with use just like any other tool. I was at WalMart the other day and had to cut a plastic produce bag that was too long and the robin went through it like air. Another thing I like about this knife is that it looks like a "gentleman's knife" and would scare sheeple less than a knife with a more tactical look.
