  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I can not tell which stone is the fine and which the ultra fine as I lost the red marking. Can you help me ?
Is there a certain way to find the ultra fine for sure?

The only difference is the surface finish. Under high magnification you may be able to tell which is smoother

Try running a fingernail along the some part of the rod that you do not use for sharpening.

I don't have the rods, but I do have the bench stones, and a fingernail along the side of each stone made the difference clear.

I've got the fine & ultra fine triangular Sharpmaker rods & I can "feel" a difference between the 2 when I pull a carbon steel knife (a Chinese cleaver in this case) along the length of each, there being more "drag" on the "fine" as opposed to the "ultrafine" rods.
