Today's shortcut-filled world really pisses me off sometimes. You can't even order a knife by it's name!

Anyone know Smoky Mountain Knifeworks' item number for the plain edged Spyderco Rookie? I don't have the catalog anymore. I tried to order the knife by name, but the guy who answered, Chris, said he needs the item number. Sheesh.

Thanks a bunch

Howie - try the Spydie SKU # C51?

DOH! I hadn't thought of that. I think I'll just go back to my cage and think about what I've done.

Thanks

Hi there!

Here you are.

The item codes are as follows:

SP51GP - Plain version
SP51GS - Serrated Version

Hi Guy - Lots of Luck with the plain edged Rookie from Smoky Mt. - I called in last month and there were none left - only the toothy ones - Got mine and traded it already! Also hearing that the "Rookie" is history - out of production - discontinued -
I wish you luck!
And welcome to Forums!

They must have gotten another shipment,I ordered a plain edge last wednesday and received it saturday.great knife,I am sorry to hear it might be discontinued.Knowing spyderco they will probably replace it with something else I can't live without.

PHEW! Just checked my e-mail, and it said I got a reply... It was Re's... I read it, and I just about had a heart attack! I know they'll replace it... I hope? I just didn't know Smoky Mountain was out. Then I scrolled down. If you hadn't said that you got one I could have slit my wrist (would have spent at least a week deciding what to use, giving me time to cool down

)!
Ordered it last night, and I can't wait to get it! I'm like an excited little puppy... like when I ordered my Delica, but better!

Thanks again
Howie

I've asked this before, and I STILL can't remember: Does the G-10 Rookie have the same single steel liner, like the Standard?

It sure does Rockspyder. A great knife on par with the Wegner Jr and Calypso Jr and that is saying a lot.

Thanks Beam. I'll try to remember that this time.

Do any of you guys know if the blade length is 3" or under? I've just seen photos and never handled one in the flesh. I've read conflicting info. on different sites. This is related to another topic I just posted on 3" travel knife.

Hey Howie,
Sorry about the mis-information on my post last week to you - new SMK catalogue arrived and now shows Rookies in both styles -- I hope you ordered.. I know I did - again, sorry for the misleading information but that's what they told me at SMK when I went to order about three weeks ago. Enjoy the Rookie -- I know I will !

Interesting... THEY STILL SENT ME THE FRIGGIN' SERRATED VERSION!!! It couldn't be that they were out- or at least it SHOULDN'T be. I marked the box for a refund if they were out of what I wanted. One way or another, they screwed up. Oh well. I had never handled the Rookie before. Upon doing so, I realized that this is not the knife for me. Until now, I never understood when people said a knife felt too small for their hands. It's also quite heavy for its size. I think I'll go back to the Delica. Unfortunately, I'm still losing the cost of shipping on all of this.

Thanks for all the replies
Howie
