Ok guys, a lot of years ago (could be 10) I bought from the auction site a silver Spyderco S, I have never doubted it was authentic but recently while watching a tube video I realize that mine doesn't have the SPYDERCO 440C engraving.
I compared a lot of pics, and It's identical to all, the box seems authentic too, and the Taiwan engraving is present.
What do you think???

Maybe you'll see something I don't.

I dug it out of the drawer because I was going to sell some knives, and keep only the users and sentimental value ones.

Nothing immediately looks off but the pivot does looks to be shinier than the other ones I've seen. Also the knife is from August 2007

Greetings, Mateo:

Except for "SPYDERCO M.I.M. 440C" engraved/etched (or whatever it's called) around the Spydiehole on the right side of the blade, mine looks absolutely identical to yours. It even has the exact same tiny circular indentation above the jimping on the index-finger choil that yours shows in the first picture. On mine, the "Taiwan" on the other side of the Spydiehole is identical to yours in placement, size, and font. Mine's a few years old, so I'm guessing the age of your "S" explains the difference; a call or email to Spyderco may confirm the change.

At any rate, it's a great knife, ain't it?

Cheers,
Isaeus

That knife looks cool on paper but it also looks like a major pain in the ass to clean if you actually use it.

Can't say for sure, but knives have missed the engraving process before, and folks have removed it for reasons of their own. To me, either of those scenarios is more likely than it being a fake.

Looks just like my black one. That blade seems like a whole lot of trouble to fake to be worth the time.

This looks almost identical to mine - except for the engraving. I agree with Sithus - it wasn't a popular enough model for the pirates to go to all the trouble to fake this one. I think it is genuine.

Great little knives, too. Light weight and a good EDC carry for the office - it certainly elicits comments from folks!

Thank you for all the responses guys, just what I thought.
Some way the blade skiped the etching process on one side of the blade, anyway I'll send a mail to the company to verify. I'll let you know the official answer.

One last question, with traditional knives when one piece has something uncommon the rarity increases its value. Could be the same with Spydies?

see you around.

It can, but the model has to be one that attracts collector interest in the first place. I'm fairly sure sterile (no blade markings at all) Lil' Temps tend to sell for more than marked ones, but whether that would hold true for a knife as low on the "collectible Spydercos" list as the S is another matter.

Its a fake you have to send to me for proper disposal.very unstable radioactive material take all you're knives that have been exposed to it and ship them overnigh!time is of the essence.don't trust anyone but me.spies from Japan.lol
