to most these seem like completely different knives. but these are the two that i am torn between. if you have another recommendation i would like to hear it.

For the prices they're going for right now you could have both for $150 total. They'll probably only go up. If money's an issue, get the Izula.

A lot of it depends on your preferred carry method and what role you're actually trying to fill.

well i am looking for an around the house work knife. one that i can use and not worry about. that is why i like the izula. the only thing that i dont like is that i wouldn't be able to legally carry it, LA county sucks. the only appeal that the sage has is the fact that i can carry it. but i already have enough carry knives. which is what brings me back to the RAT. i also like the RAT company and their warranty. but spyderco's warranty is nothing to sneeze at. you can see my conundrum.

Well for around the house, the Izula is half as much $ and stronger. You admitted you have enough carry knives so I don't think you'd regret the Izula. I find wearing it on the neck outside the shirt makes it very handy around the house. If you have a shirt pocket you can hang it into there to keep it from swinging around so much. I love spyderco but the Izula has to be held and used to be appreciated.

and another thing is that i already have a couple of spyderco's. i think that the izula is going to be the winner. thanks for your input

Well that was quick, now you can lock it down:p

The Sage is my most favorite spyderco design to date. I carry my SageII more than my sebbies for the past few months.

I've never had an izula, but know many like them. I'm sure you will enjoy yours:thumbup:

well nothing is for certain. but it is a good chance that i will get the izula. i would still like to hear other recommendations though.

sounds like you already know what you want. I'd get what you're gonna get more use out of. If you are like me you will end up with both eventually anyway.

I have a sage 2 and an Izula, they are both awesome knives... but I get more use out of the sage.

how do their blade lenghts compare? i know the izula is smaller but how do they look side by side?

I have an Izula which I really like and although I don't own a Sage I do own a Native 4.

I find myself carring the Native 4 everyday clipped to my jeans pocket. The Izula only when I go hunting, fishing or hiking. For me it depends on which activity and method of carry.

Given the choice I would choose the Sage first for everyday use and then pick up the Izula later.

well i just ordered the black izula with survival kit. thanks for all the recommendations.

I've never read or heard of anyone not liking the Izula. I think that for around the house chores or hard use you made a good choice. Post some pics and a review when you get it and let us know what you think.

I believe you'll be happy with the Izula. It is a very well made, well heat treated, and handy knife. I'm finding that I carry my Izula more and my Spydies less. Great knife!

I struggled with the same question a few months ago...I hear you...

They are both mine now with zero regrets!
