I'm looking for a titanium/steel frame lock with easy deployment. Both the Spyderco Sage 2 and 0566 are about the same price. What would you recommend? I have the Techno but the detent is super strong.

I recently asked a similar question, I too am considering the 0566, but my Spyderco choice was the PM2. Most responders said to get both!!!

I have yet to pull the trigger on either so I cannot really comment further.

Have you done a search for either blade here yet? I have on them and I found that there is so much pro and con info that I'm still as undecided as ever. Much more "pro" info on each, and just a little con info.

Good luck in your quest!

Lightweight, classy, smooth, thumbhole, titanium = Sage 2

heavy (kinda), beefy (kinda), flipper, assisted, tactical (kinda) = ZT 566

which do you like more.

Comes down to looks really, or weight, or size. They are both very good knives.

One thing that might sway you is that ZT has a blade replacement policy. I find that very comforting sometimes!

I agree with Blade Commander above. I have a Sage2 for the reasons he stated. I've had numerous ZT's, which are great knives, but too heavy-duty for real casual use...office, etc.

I own both, and they really are drastically different. Depends on your uses, of course. When I am doing something casual, the Sage 2 is a go-to blade for me. However, when I'm doing work around the house, outside, or want a little more ability out of my knife, I go for the 0566. If you are prone to breaking your tip off your knives, the 0566 has a nice stout tip. The Sage 2 is a better slicer.

For what it's worth, if I could only own one, it would be the Sage 2. I got a screaming deal on mine for $110 shipped.

ZT offers replacement blades, and they also allow you to disassemble and for many people allow mods without voiding warranty. The Sage 2 isn't a had knife, I just greatly prefer ZT for framelocks.

Remember that the 566 can be desassisted to be an excellent manual flipper too. Also Elmax is generally considered to be a better steel than S30V.

Might want to edit that out. Amazon is not a paid dealer. You can find the 566 and Sage 2 for around $150 at multiple dealers though.

0562 which is like an upgraded 0566, the Sage 2 is a great option as well though, but I have become a fan of that ZT style flipper.

Got my Sage 2 on the Exchange here. Might be able to find one either NIB or LNIB for a great price. Same for the 0566.
