I was looking for a used one here, and never could find one so I went ahead and bought a new one before the price increase.
I'm not crazy about the FRN, do any of y'all have one with aftermarket scales? If so, would you post pics and source?
Thanks,
Stephen

I thought I would get more interest in this thread. I am supposed to get mine in tomorrow. I can't wait!
I haven't been able to find any scales in stock though. I'd like micarta I think.

You might get more reception in the Spyderco sub here. You could ask a mod to move it for you.

Suingab (a.k.a "G10.lt") is member here and have big thread with his work. He does outstanding job, including large selection of Spyderco models. I wasn't able to find the thread but if you google it itll show you the site. You can ask him about the Sage, he responds fairly quick and you can order your scales any way you like it if he covers your model, tons of designs to choose from. IMO he does the best non metalic scsles for Spyderco.

I didn't think about that. If a mod sees it and thinks it should be moved that'll be fine. Otherwise I'll just let it hang out here and see what happens.

Thank you brother, just sent him an email.

Go in details with him, he does truly custom orders, I got 3 sets done by him and they are unique and with perfect fit and finish. Takes a while if you order material that he doesn’t currentl have but worth the wait I think. He ordered mine from Fat Carbon, they are also located in Lituvania if I’m not mistaking and are used by top knife manufacturers.

I agree the FRN scales are fantastic from a practical standpoint. I find them more comfortable than standard uncontoured G10 scales like the stock Para2 ones. I am not afraid to abuse my FRN knives, which leads me to carry and use them more often.

FRN scales may not be aesthetically pleasing to some, but they are incredibly tough and well suited to knife manufacture IMHO.
I'm not anti frn, and I don't generally mod my knives. I've wanted this knife for a while and would have gotten the carbon fiber but I understand that the lightweight tends to have better action.

The frn on my sage 5 LW is very well made. I especially like the two tone color on it. Definitely wouldn’t change them.

Also, love Suingab work. Those guys are responsive, work fast, with awesome results !

The knife came in. It is stiffer than I thought it would be. I'm used to the action on the Paramilitary 2 and assumed it would be the same. I'm kind of glad it isn't because the pm2 would actually swing closed too fast and bump back open a bit. It is sharp, centered, and feels great in the hand. I regret nothing.

I also like the frn but the aftermarket scales are usually slightly thicket and I like the better purchase on the grip.
looking much better is added plus and probably value.

That is strange that the action would be stiffer as the sage 5 kw has a bushing.
Well the Sage 5 is brand new, I have no idea how old the pm2 is, at least 3 years I've had it and I bought it used.
I could adjust the pivot screw but I like it the way it is

Love love love this knife.
I think my next Spyderco is going to be either a Chaparral or a Lil Native. I want something just a hair smaller for work EDC.
