I'm looking for my first Liner Lock and narrowed my choices to the new Spyderco Sage, and BM Mini Dejavoo. I really like CF handles on the Sage, as well as the blade profile. On the downside I'm not sure if i like the idea of it being made in China, especialy now with the economy. The Dejavoo on the other hand is made in the USA. I like the Dejavoo's overall look/ergo's and I always wanted a Lum designed knife. I guess it bols down to lock up and build quality...so which one would you choose and why?

Thanks

I don't have the sage, but I love my mini Deja-Voo. Lock up is solid, geometry is perfect and it looks like an overall work of art. I actually like it better than the Spyderco Chinese. The action is extremely smooth and it feels very nice in the hand. My only complaint would be a slightly weak (read weaker than my 710) pocket clip. this is probably due to the open design and is not a real problem.

I vote for the Sage. I have two and they both are very close to perfect. My Mini Dejavoo (before I sold it) had some lock issues that I wasn't happy with. It would unlock with just a small amount of pressure on the spine of the blade.

I've had both & I prefer the Sage (I got rid of the Dejavoo, BTW). The Dejavoo was nice, but the Sage is more comfortable to me, is tip-up, & carries thinner. The issue of the Sage being made in Taiwan is a valid one, I suppose, but the S30V blade on the Sage did come from the U.S.

While I understand wanting a U.S. made knife (Most of my knives are made in the U.S.), many people don't seem to mind having Spydercos & such made in Japan, but seem bothered by Taiwan or Chinese made knives. Why is that?

I have bothe the Sage and the Mini Dejavoo. My vote would go to the Sage. The Mini Dejavoo is a nicely built and nice looking knife, but the Sage begs to be used a bit more I think, and looks and works like a much pricier blade IMO. I've kept my Mini Dejavoo mostly because it was designed by Bob Lum, and he passed away this past year. The knife is beautiful but doesn't feel as comfy in my particular hands as the Sage does.

Good luck with your choice. They are both VERY nice knives and about equally priced, so neither should be considered a bad choice.

I have the Sage, and I love it. It would be mychoice of the 2. The fit, finish, and lock-up are perfect. I know it is from China, and that bothered me a little, but I could not find any fault with it.

I would rather buy something from Taiwan than China. Just my 2 cents worth and I'll admit that I'm biased. I was born in Taipei on the military base.
