I recently bought a G. Sakai 'Intrepid' folder and would like to know about when it was imported by Spyderco. Please comment if you have an idea. Not much on the web about it so it was a while back probably. Perhaps someone has an old Spyderco catalog. I'm guessing the date would be around 1993, 1994?

Hi Glenn,

Welcome to our forum.

As I remember it would have been in the late '80's early 90's. What would you like to know?

I was hoping to find some literature that might provide some details about this knife such as the type of steel, original price, etc.

Hi Glenn,

I don't know of any literature that might be around. I believe the blade steel was Aus-6 made by Aichi. I don't remember the pricing.

I found this info on it in an Ironstone catalog dated 1992.

Hope this helps,

This Sakai 'Intrepid' folder has Krayton grips.
I read many old, old comments in the 'maintenance' forum about Krayton grips and a deteriorization issues
I found this info on it in an Ironstone catalog dated 1992.
