Spyderco Salsa Question

I recently purchased a Spyderco Salsa from a local knife shop. It appeared at first glance to be new in the box. Under closer inspection, aka different lighting at home, it appears that the blade leading up to the cutting edge is stropped as it is polished more than the rest of the blade. None of my other Spydercos have this kind of polish near the edge. I just wondered if this was normal for the model or if it had actually been tinkered with by someone else. Either way, it's sharp and I'm happy with the purchase, I would just like to know if the merchandise being sold as new is actually new.

too hard to make it out from the pics for me. but if you're happy, then it doesn't really matter, does it?

Hard to say what's normal on knives that are sharpened individually, by hand, on a belt grinder.

I pulled out my PE Green Salsa and I have a strip that is unpolished in the plunge cut. 1/8 on one side and a little less on the other. This came NIB directly from Sal, so it supports the idea of polishing variation in new Salsa blades.
