Have a Salt1and the Salt. Buy it you will like it. Without a doubt it will be your favorite new fishing knife. Mine goes on every fishing trip and slices through bait and everything else without effort. Just swish it in the water to clean and don't worry about that rust.
Being in South Florida and sweating a lot, I carry my Salt 1 more than any other knife I have and agree with the above posters. You'll love it. Just know that, per what I remember Sal saying in response to my one complaint when I first got mine, it will work harden and most likely require sharpening after the first few uses. After that though, it'll hold an edge pretty darn well.
Good choice to buy one. I love my Pacific Salt I use it a lot for food prep since you don't really have to worry about cleaning it right away often I'll just leave it near the grill. I just run mine under hot water when it needs a cleaning. H1 steel is amazing I just wish they had more models with it. I've always had my eye out for an Aqua Salt or Rock Salt.
I have the salt with the spyderedge. I have surfed with it. I have dove with it. I fish with it. I run with it. I have lived in one of the most corrosive environments in the world with it. I have never had any problems with corrosion. It came sharp. It does need to be sharpened a little more often than some others, but I really like it.
This would probably be better suited for the Spyderco forum here, but from what I've heard it is a great knife. I personally don't own one. I have no need for h1 steel. I never had a knife rust on me.
Yes, I got it the day after xmas. I really like it. Smooth, nice blade and very light.
My boy wants one now. It will replace a cheap folder we have had for a long time that has started rusting.
Looks like a great choice for this Florida coast.
Just a little point on H1. It is a work hardening alloy, but that is done as part of the hardening process from Spyderco. It does not work harden during sharpening or cutting any more than any other steel.
I have the atlantic salt h1 ,yellow handles ,sheepsfoot style blade, black clip,I'm a commercial lobster fisherman over here in Nova Scotia, this is my favorite fishing knife of all time, the h1 steel is amazing, had mine 2 seasons now and never sharpened it yet,and it still cuts pretty decent, its clipped to my oil gear every day, great design!
