Sal, you all should think about making a foam/plastic spyder keychain that would float. I can use it on my Atlantic/Tasman when I go canoeing/tubing instead of worrying about tethering them to my vest with enough line to not lose them and still be able to reach them in a time of need.

Maybe add a whistle to it?
Glow in the dark?

I can just imagine the “foam junkies” demanding high end exotic foams:confused:

I say start with latex rubber foam and then move on to memory and gel foam sprint runs. I’d be in for two BHQ jade Evlon exclusives:D:D:D

I can't wait for the "Do We Really Need AeroGel Foam" thread.

I think it’s a great idea. I use my Salts on the water daily and I’ve left a couple on the bottom of the ocean over the years. Tying the knife to the kayak with a lanyard can be dangerous when you’re pulling large aggressive fish into the kayak. I once pulled in a 60 lb Rooster that got his tail wrapped in the lanyard for my pliers. Those pliers were flying around so fast I think they would have broken bone if they’d hit me. I don’t want to think what an open Spyderedged Pacific Salt would do. A well made and functional float seems like a safe and workable solution. I would buy several.

If you tied a monkey fist around the right size of hollow sphere you'd have a pretty good start on this.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking about doing with a bobber. But maybe a ping pong ball would work. The mythbusters raised a boat with them! Lol

That could work for but maybe it's too big; You don't want it to be too awkward. Displacement vs. pocketablity.

True, but you didn't see my first experiment. I took apart a chums floating keychain and used 2 segments of foam inside a cobra weave. It literally sank like there was nothing on it at all. And that was just a dragonfly.

Yeah if you can't afford those^ or helium filled pocket clips, you could always tether a fishing bob to your lanyard

In all seriousness this does sound like a good idea. I just think it would end up being too large to keep things afloat.
