I got this in the beginning of june to be my knife to take along on my summer job. We paddle around in the ocean with kids on kayaks.
Came out of the box sharp and the action was smooth.
Uses H1 steel which isnt supposed to rust

WHAT IT WENT THROUGH:
Its seen about 6 weeks of use.
It was emersed in salt water for at least 30 mins 2-3 times a day, kept in the pocket of my board shorts. I would wear the same board shorts from monday-friday and the knife was in the pocket the whole time. It would get rinsed when I took a shower but wasnt given any special attention. It was also in my pocket when i went swiming in a chlorinated pool.
So basically it was in salt water often for good periods of time without good freshwater rinses.
It was used mostly to cut rope, both cotton and synthetic. Some of this rope was old rope used to tie kayaks together and likely had sand inside the rope. Nothing over 1/2" diameter though.

As can be seen in the photo no rust! Despite much salt water and few cleanings there is no rust on the blade. I noticed a small dot or two of rust at the rivet point. Another problem is that the blade is not as smooth to open as it started. It can still be done one handed but is a little tight. This could simply be a matter of salt getting lodged between the handle and blade. I dropped a few drops of houshold oil inside but that did not smooth the action. I will have to give it a good soaking after the job is over.

Also as can be seen in the picture there were some scratches on the blade probably from sand or other abrasive stuff lodged in the rope. These are rather minor. The knife cut through all of the rope well. Though because of the somewhat agressive serrations on the spyderco salt sometimes it would sort of catch on the rope, especially if the rope was made into a loop. It also might have done this on the smaller diameter rope, but this is likely just a fact of aggresive serrations as the knife started out very sharp.

The knife was no longer shaving sharp but would still cut well after the last 6 weeks. I took it to my spyderco triangle sharpener and it sharpened right back to shaving sharp quite easily.

Overall I am pleased. It seems to hold an edge well enough, it doesnt rust at all and has a nice feel and weight.
The serrations being agressive is a plus and a minus depending on what your task but i would have liked them jsut slightly less agressive. I am sure over time they will get a little less agressive.
The only thing I wish would be different would be some bolt or screw so that the blade could be cleaned, a rivet is too permanent especially if the rivet rusts. Ill have to keep an eye on it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I have some questions:

Is the hole of the Salt bigger than that of the Delica? Were you clipping it to your pocket? When you use it, did you always loop it around the wrist? Is there a hollow to the primary grind?

Can you confirm the words on your avatar? "Delicious Easy Seal, The Fool of the Sea"?

Don't mean to butt in, but the hole is bigger (9/16 in.) and my plain edge has a hollow primary grind.

Yes the hole is bigger for easier opening in the water from what i remember.
It was just sitting in a zippered pocket.
I didnt really use the landyard.
Im not sure of the technical words but the length of the plade is a single side grind.

I have a buck tiburon which has seen saltwater use but never really cut anything, dont remmeber the metal but it hasnt rusted either, but i washed it well each time.

I dont know knot names lol
I pulled out the threads in the center though to reduce the bulk. I do this a lot when i use 550 cord to make little tabs or loops.
