I am hoping to get a knife with the H1 steel to test it out. My questions is, which is the best model to start. I have found a place with a dragonfly serrated for $48 and a saver salt serrated for $48 as well. Are these good ones to jump on or should i get one of the other models?

I think you'll find that most of the guys here will say either a Df2 serrated or a Tasman serrated

I really like my Salt Saver. It's usually the knife I have on me IWB when mountain biking.

I guess I am wondering if there is a reason I see the saver salt being on sale for about $20 less than it normally sells for.

I usually recommend the Pacific Salt or the Salt 1. The Dragonfly is nice too but I find without liners the smaller ones end up feeling not quite as robust as I like. They are still plenty strong I think, its just a perception thing. If you like the sheepsfoot shape then I would say definitely get the saver. The saver and Atlantic salt probably have my favorite handle ergos but I never use them because I don't care for blades without a tip.

Id say a Pacific salt serrated... Not much it can't do.

Regardless of your choice, serrated is the way to go in h1.

Yeah, I guess it comes down to size desired. For me when biking I use it to cut some branches in the trail, and for possible emergency, but I don't want a huge knife (weight is a large concern for cyclists).

For $48 I'd jump on it!

Do you guys think its worth the extra $18 to get a pacific salt? Is the pacific the same size as the endura? If it is, I do not like knives that are that large.

'Pacific' and 'Atlantic' Salts are Endura-class.

'Dragonfly' and 'Ladybug' Salts are in their related classes.

The rest are Delica-class.

I make an effort to support the vendors that support this forum even if it does cost a little more. But a great deal is a great deal. ;)

The Pacific Salt is same size as Endure. If you want something midsized you will want the saver, salt 1 or tasman. I have all three and the salt 1 is by far the most useful of the bunch for me. Knifeworks is a great vendor that has good prices.
