I know this knife has been discontinued for a while now, but how do you guys like it?

I think its relatively available on the bay and other websites, so I was pondering buying one. It's relatively affordable.

Do you guys like this knife?

I owned one for awhile, and enjoyed it very much, It is an interesting design for sure and was very sturdy.. It reminded me of an altered lava for some reason...I loved the blade shape as well.. I don't think you'll be sorry, if this is what you are looking for in a knife...

The Scorpius is bulit just like the SS Delica and Endura. Lava or Adventura too.
It has awesome ergonomics IMO. Not suprising since it was Eric Glessers' first Spyderco design IIRC.

I think it's a very nice model. Super solid feel and nice heft from the all steel construction. Comfortable handle, slim and smooth in the pocket. Not really a low profile carry based on the clip position and handle shape, in case that's a concern for you. The fine point is good for detail cuts and the blade is easy to control for these when you choke up and use the choil.

So, yeah, if you like it and can find a good price I'd say it's worth a try.

Beautiful knife, but it didn't fit my hand.

It is a thin, well made work knife.

Like most of Eric's designs, how it feels in the hand makes or breaks it for many folks. Hopefully the OP will be able to hold before buying.

I quoted shangchi not to address him but to further build on his statement.

Owned one for a bit. Felt ok in the hand, terrible in the pocket. Between the guard, the tail, and the exposed corner of the blade tang, there always seemed to be something poking me. Plus, I prefer something a bit more conservative looking and with a better blade length to handle length ratio. That said, if you like the heft of an all stainless knife, it's well built and worth a try.

If you can get one for a good price ($50 to $60) it is a lot of knife for the money. Tip up or tip down clip, all steel construction, VG-10 blade.

The blade design itself is one of the most practical in the Spydie stable, with lots of belly and a nice sharp point with a small swedge.

The only downsides are the slick surface of the steel scales and the knife tends to show quite a bit in the pocket.

Otherwise it is a winner and one of Spydies' most interesting designs IMO.

I just got a full serrated one and it is a really good knife. Ergonomics feel really good to me, and the the way the handle is designed, your hand doesn't slip even with out jimping and slick SS handles. plus, the "tail" is a really good impact device.

I got one today (plain edge) and it's one of my favorite Spydie, and I got it for $49 cdn...:)

It's a pretty cool knife. I EDCed one for maybe a year or so.

In general, I like the Scorpius. My one problem was the pronounced "pommel," which I'm guessing Glesser intended as an impact surface. I like front-IWB carry, and that shiny stainless pommel made the Scorpius too conspicuous for my particular style of carry.

So I sort of retired it...Very nice knife in every other way, however... :)

These were most of my thoughts about this model, except that I really don't care about blade length/handle length ratios all that much. Also, mine came with a great edge, probably the best and sharpest of any Spydie that I owned. The knife was great for slicing. Ended up trading it for a Native and a Byrd, though.

I'm definitely going to put it on my list based on what you guys have said.

I'm surprised that I don't hear about it much, but I guess there are only so many spydies that people can talk about.

I don't see any screws or pins on it

Not a great photo, but you can see the outline of the pivot pin in the pic below. I can just barely make out the pin for the lock bar, though it's really faint, and I can't find any pins for the back spacer.
