Spyderco Shaman 15v FLAW

I have an S30V Shaman that has the same line, it appears to be an uneven grind. I can kind of feel mine with my finger. My edge was also uneven. I actually thought my blade was a second, but there was no marking. I was going to send mine in but after reading about Spyderco CS I figured they would just say it’s in there tolerances. Anyways if it bothers you I would send it back, for replacement or refund.

Unfortunately that’s a pretty common issue on the stonewashed Shamans, or so I’ve heard on a few Reddit threads. The satin finished ones have basically ground the imperfection down, and the DLC ones cover it up effectively.

If those blades were ground by hand at any point, I'd say it's certainly a 2" mark. It's a very common thing on hand ground blades where a 2" wide belt is used. It's caused by the edge of the belt opposite the side that's working in the plunge line.

Is it 2" away from the plunge line?

If that's the cause, it is a cosmetic issue only and nothing to do with steel, heat treat or performance.

FWIW, mine has an almost identical mark / line in almost exactly the same place. I didn’t think much of it, and I can’t feel it. I don’t think it’s the first blade I’ve seen that kind of thing on. I figure soon enough I’ll get enough patina going to hide that nonsense! 😁

Hi! I just recieved my sprint run shaman 15v but i noticed that the blade has indented line in the center but u can only see it in the lighting. Here's pic for reference. Should i be worried? Spent $400 on this one https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/kZVW8OL1EbBv
Why did you have to pay $400? I thought our forum members bought those for $275 and then flipped them to us for $320-350.

Look like just cosmetic and won't affect performance. $400, ouch! I would expect perfection at that price... and those complaining about a $300 4-MAX Elite is too expensive.

I'd forget about it, and use that baby hard, fast, and often!
Don't sweat the small stuff: you'll be much happier...
