I have a Spydie Endura, used, dull as a butter knife. Can I send it back to Spyderco to get it back to razor sharp. No, I don't want to sharpen it myself. That's one reason it's so dull...:barf:

Yes you can. Include a check for $5.00 to cover return shipping and they will fix you up.

Yes, if you go to their website click you can find out how to do this under the "contact" button.

If you really suck at sharpening, just give in and buy a Sharpmaker.

Can I ask why you don't want to sharpen it yourself? It would really stink having to send my knives out every time I needed them sharpened.

Say "aznav" that's a really good knife you have and I compliment you on a great selection. I do however encourage you to learn the art of sharpening your knives. It's not nuclear physics or mastering Einstein's Theory Of Relativity. It's a skill anyone can master with a little patience and some practice.

Spyderco makes a great line up of sharpening tools that are easy to learn to use. I encourage you to start off by getting one of their 204 Sharpmaker tools. They come with an instructional booklet and a very nice instructional DVD in which Sal Glesser takes you through the basics of sharpening.

A knife is an essential tool and to me it's very handy to know how to do your own sharpening. The 204 Sharpmaker can do plain edges, Hawkbills, serrated and just about any knife sharpening chore you can imagine. And it's a great tool to learn the basics of sharpening. good luck

AZNAV,

Just adding that if your knife is serrated and needed to be reground, there could be an extra fee but they would contact you.

Cheers.

I agree that sharpening is a skill worth developing, but I can also think of a number of conditions that could make it difficult if not impossible to do so. Try using your SharpMaker with one hand some time, and tell me how eager you would be to master that little trick. That's why the service is there.

No you can't. LOL!!!!!

Seriously, I knew this would come up. Last year I sprung for the Lansky Deluxe 5-Hone Sharpening System. Yeah, yeah. I followed directions (I think...) and managed to dull three knives. I'm willing to give it one more time if someone out there knows a better way.

ps. I did send the knife to Spyerdco.

No harm in letting them do it for you. Some guys discover that they get a REAL kick out of learning to sharpen. I personally like the relaxation it brings.

I also like knowing what it is going to cost me (in time) if I get the notion to do something stupid with my edge (trying to cut wire for example). Sure I can fix it, but fixing your own problems shows you how to respect and properly use your tools.

We are all different. You should give consideration to trying other sharpening methods and techniques. If you are quite confident that you are not interested, then by all means use Spyderco's service or pay someone locally to re-edge for you.

Whatever you do...do NOT walk around with a dull knife!

That's a HUGE +1 on the relaxation thing. I seriously don't know that I would be as into the knife thing as I am were it not for that. I truly am one of those people who owns knives so I have something to sharpen lol.

LMAO I thought I was the only person who mentally weighed the cost in time to resharpen vs using a knife for a given task. MANY times I see a situation and think....hmmm I could use my ZDP Stretch to cut this cardboard up but the thought of the time it took to get a sub-.25 micron ultra-polished edge on it....naaah I'll go grab my Rat 1 folder out of my car lol.
