I had this thing lying around the house and I got tired of waiting for the brown stones to recontour the edge to 30 degrees on my 710. This thing cuts fast, and fits in perfectly.

I really don't care much for the rods provided by Spyderco. I use 6'" triangular Norton India stones. They give an excellent edge.

Where do you get them?
Do they fit in the Sharpmaker base as well as the Spyderco stones?
Thanks!

Congress Tools has 60 grit triangles that will possibly fit the SM base. Some report very tight fits, some a little loose. They are also only 6" long, but VERY coarse compared to the brown stones.

Nice sollution. The brown stones are excrutiatingly slow when reprofiling. The diamond rods, however, are a bit rough. The interupted diamond surface seems like it would be a good compromise.

I've got a couple sets in varying grits. Mine fit and work perfectly.

Before anyone hustles out and buys a 10" Smith's diamond rod (as I did) be aware that it doesn't fit the sharpmaker.
Not sure what length the one pictured by the OP is.....but as I say, the 10" one doesn't fit.

So which one does fit?

Hopefully the OP will chime in and let us know.

Mine is the 10" diamond sharpener as well. It fits in both "ways" meaning I can run it corner to corner in any hole in either cant. I wonder if the dimensions have changed on the sharpmaker.
