I'm primarily a wade fisherman and occasionally fish of my stand-up paddle board here in Florida...with that being said, I'm usually wet! I was looking at purchasing a Spyderco Salt, but stumbled across the Siren recently. Should I expect the same durability (handle & blade) from the Siren as the Salt? The blade steel is identical, however the Siren has a G10 handle. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and experiences!

I know you have a post up in WTB. If I may suggest, if you are looking for a plain edge knife, stick with LC200N steel. If you are willing to go with a serrated edge, H1 is awesome as is LC200N. If you opt for H1 in a plain edge knife, I think you will be severely disappointed in its edge holding capability. Some tolerate it, but LC200N is far superior in a plain edge.

The siren should be an excellent choice in corrosive environments. Although mine has not been exposed to salty environments, it's been exposed to a lot of foods that stain some of our other "stainless steel" kitchenware, and so far the siren has been stain proof.

I haven't damaged a salt knife yet, except for the edge, but expect the siren durability to be at least as good, and probably better than a salt. It has a thick spine and way more meat around the pivot than salts. LC200N PE edge seems to hold up a little better that H1 PE. I don't have LC200N SE to compare.
Also not sure how g10 vrs frn compares, but I do have one g10 handled knife that has been through knife hell (run over, multiple drops to concrete up to 60 feet, etc) and you can't tell it. I expect the handle to hold up very well.

The siren has a very comfortable handle for all day use, even as thin and flat sided as it is, and probably the only knife I own that I haven't felt the need to dehorn, even in the slightest (knock sharp edges off the handle).

The lock issue linked above has been a non issue for me. Although mine does the same thing, it's not happened during use, and even if it did, I still don't think it would be an issue for me.

Overall, I think the siren is a very good knife for specific water tasks, and general all around use. I only wish it came in a slightly scaled down 3 inch version and solid clip.
I always prefer the added control of a 3" blade over the longer reach of a 3.5", and also the added retention and stability of solid clips over reduced weight of wire ones.
