Thought I knew most of the Spyderco models--old and new alike. However, I just ran across a pic of the Solo on another discussion board.

Interesting knife. I'd like to learn a little more about it. When was it made? How many were made? Are any still available, and if so, how much do they go for? Any good place to go for nice pics of the knife?

More questions:

Does this knife have a liner lock?

Is it flat ground or hollow ground?

Hi Guyon. The "Solo" label is owned by Spyderco and waas created originally back in the early 90's.

There haved been 5 folders and 1 Titanium kitchen knife produced so far under this label.

Solo 1,3 & 4 are variations of the original pattern. The Solo 2 was a longer version of the 1.

There is a new Solo 5 that was created for Ironstone a while back. It is just coming out this year. It is a button release liner lock. We'll be doing a contest with the model on this forum is a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply Sal. And thanks also for the heads up on the contest. I'll keep an eye out.

I went ahead and ordered a Solo 2 from SFO. I'm glad I did. It's a very nice little gentleman's folder for just $49. Very slender and perfect for dress pants. The micarta handles are classy, and the blade is razor sharp.

I never could find a good pic of the knife on the web--not a close up at least. So here's one for those of you who might be interested in a Solo.
