Hey all,

I was wondering which you think is the better knife and why? I'm either going to get a Southard or a 0562CF, and I want to know which knife is better, like I said. Why is your choice better? Personally I think the Southard is a better value because the steel is pretty much the same (or so I've heard) and they're both flippers. It's also about $50 cheaper than the 0562CF. What do you think? Thanks!

I have used both, and I own the 0562CF. I would say that I think they're very different in terms of feel, and blade performance. The Southard is a tad smaller in the hand, and seems better suited for finer work. The 0562 is a bruiser, and that steel is no joke. Of course, the 204P in the Southard isn't either. I think they're both fantastic knives, just a tad different in feel and use-case.

I have owned the Southard and sold it soon after buying it. It just did not feel good in my hand. The 0562 how ever feels great in my hand. If you have smaller hands maybe the Southard will be okay. Also I like the M390 steel.

I owned a Southard for all of three days. The handle didn't fit me, and I hated the flipper design. Sold it immediately. I have the 0561, and the egos and flipper are great. The 0562 with m390 should be even better.

I found the Southard to be typical of so many of the popular Spyderco models--a strong blade, decent edge and steel....but then you get to the handle and pivot.

You'll probably be happier with the ZT for strength. In this case you'll get what you pay for.
