Boy do i love their knives 
Anyway, I was just examining a couple of my Spyderco's, and i noticed something about two of them.. The Massad Ayood and the Calypso Jr. Both are fairly new as they are dated this year on the boxes, and both have something in common... on the lock, the lower part of it that contacts the blade tang is "darkened".. almost like an oily color. but its not oil.. its almost as if the lock was two different metals, it abruptly turns dark in a straight line.. what the heck is that?
